Jenny and Ev’s Romantic Woodland Wedding

When we first heard that Jenny and Ev were engaged, Bevan and I were thrilled! The Kinch family and ours have a long history of friendship that has spanned many years.  Nearly 33 years ago, when Bevan and I were first engaged, Jenny’s grandmother threw us our first surprise bridal shower.  In 2000, we had the joy of working on one of our earliest weddings, which was for Jenny’s older sister, Deb, and then in 2015 we were thrilled to help plan her other sister, Kristie’s wedding.  So this just felt like the circle was complete, now that Ellen, Jen’s mom, asked us to help plan Jenny’s wedding!

Our first order of business was to find a venue. Jenny and Ev fell in love with the beauty of God’s nature at Ridley Creek State Park! The setting was just perfect for their outdoor ceremony.

Along with the beautiful grounds,  Hunting Hill is a gorgeous old mansion that is so charming and rustic for their reception.

Jen’s favorite color is red, and so that was what she wanted for her bridesmaids dresses.  By incorporating summer tones of pinks with the red, it kept the color palette from becoming a Christmas red, and turned it into gorgeous summer reds that really popped against the outdoor setting.  I absolutely loved it!

The bridesmaids were all in different red lace dresses that were just beautiful! The guys wore sharp charcoal gray suits that were made by Ev’s father’s cousin. Truly amazing! Jen looked spectacular in her dress from the talented designer Hayley Paige.

We were very blessed to have the incredibly gifted Barb Williams and her team from Belak flowers for our gorgeous flowers.  We really wanted a focal point for the ceremony, but didn’t want to build an arch that might take away from the beauty of the stone.  After sending Barb a few pictures of what our concept was, she created this amazing swag that framed our bride and groom perfectly! The aisle decor and front arrangements complimented the swag perfectly for a fabulously cohesive look!

We loved having the talent of Aviva Strings playing for their wedding.   The string quartet added such an elegant air to the afternoon ceremony.

As Ellen and Jen started their walk, Jen was thinking about her dad who had passed away and was missing him being here to walk her down the aisle. A tear started to roll down her cheek, and just at that moment a soft and light rain began to fall.  Jenny said she felt like God was letting her know He  understood her sadness and sent the rain.

We were very thankful for Anders, who was running our sound, that even though it was lightly raining, he didn’t pull his equipment, instead he kindly stood covering the speaker with an umbrella!

When we first met with Jenny and Ev the first thing they said that above all, the most important thing to them was that they wanted God to be glorified and honored in their wedding ceremony.  What a joy to see that realized! Their love, first for God, and then for each other was so incredibly evident throughout the entire ceremony.  From the scripture they chose (which was read in both English and Ukrainian) , the songs that were sung, the charge given by their pastor, Joel, the unforgettable letters they wrote to each other, to the dedication prayer by Ev’s parents and Jen’s uncle…  Each moment pointed all the guests to Him who brought them together.  What a privilege it was for Bevan and I to be a part of this beautiful service.

As they recessed down the aisle to Aviva Strings playing “Ode to Joy”,  they were showered with rose petals tossed by the guests.  It looked so beautiful!

For their first dance, Jenny and Ev danced to “I choose you”.  What a romantic way to start their reception!

We wanted to add in some fun aspects into the reception.  One of the things we did was have Christina from “Cut and Paste Photo Booth” come and set up her photo booth for the guests.  This was a huge hit! Every guest just loved it! Christina made duplicates of each strip of pictures, one for the guests (which we used as their wedding favor) and one that was put in a book where the guests could make comments under their picture.  This then became Ev and Jenny’s guest book.

It was important to us to make sure we ended this amazing wedding day in the most memorable way possible! Since we were at a state park, we weren’t allowed to do a sparkler exit, so we did the next best thing…a lit balloon exit!

785-BeckaPillmore-063A2105

Jenny and Ev love food trucks and wanted to have one at their wedding! Dia Doce, is one of their favorite food trucks…and it’s no wonder! These talented bakers won Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” and their cupcakes are amazing! After the grand exit, our guests were invited to the cupcake truck where they could take a cupcake and an iced coffee to go.

As this special day came to a close, Bevan and I enjoyed thinking back over all the weddings we had been a part of with this special family.  The Kinch’s have been the dearest of friends for so many decades and what a thrill it has been to have a part in each wedding!

We know that just as God brought Jenny and Ev together,  they will bring Him glory through their whole married life.

Matt and Jeanette’s winter white wedding

Last February on a crisp winter morning I met Matt and Jeanette for the first time.  They immediately drew me into their vision for their wedding! They wanted a FUN wedding! They wanted their guests to be able to listen to a fabulous band and dance the night away. They wanted their guests to enjoy delicious but fun food all night long without the “stuffiness” of a plated sit down dinner.  Most importantly, I loved hearing Matt and Jeanette talk about their ceremony.  They love their pastor, Max, and they were excited to just leave the ceremony details in his hands and hear him preach the Gospel!

The venue was the absolutely stunning Grace Winery. The morning of the wedding, snow glistened beautifully over the lawns and trees.

The origin of the barn dates back to 1750 and the Inn housed the British after the battle of Brandywine in 1777.  The beauty and history of this place makes it just so special.

The first item Jeanette and I worked on was her dress.  She had a very specific vision for her dress and wanted to draw inspiration from a picture she had.  Since she couldn’t find anything like it in any bridal store, she decided to create her own wedding dress.  It was a long process, but the end result was just spectacular.  A beautiful flowy chiffon skirt allowed the intricately beaded bodice to really shine.  The colors of taupe, ivory and gold beading really became our palette for the whole style of the wedding. Since it was a January wedding, Jeanette added a faux fur shawl to her wedding ensemble and it was beautiful with the snowy setting of the day.

For the wedding party, we used a gorgeous jewel tone palette.  Each bridesmaid choose their own color for their dress and then we matched up the groomsmen with matching vest and tie.

b-22

Belovely, our florist, created these spectacular jewel toned bouquets.  With keeping the rest of our decor in the neutral tones, these flowers added the perfect pop of color to the wedding.

b-17

Jeanette had a fabulous design idea for the reception.  She bought  gorgeous iron candelabras for each table that added such a romantic atmosphere to the room.  Our color palette for the reception decor was warm golds and we chose a rich nutmeg for the napkins.  Our table cloths were a gorgeous ivory with gold threads throughout.  It brought such a warmth to our winter wedding.  It’s amazing how draping and lighting can transform a room!

I love the sofa that Jeanette and Matt chose for their sweetheart table!

In a nod to our venue, we bought this beautiful wine barrel for our guests to sign.  Matt and Jeanette can add a glass top to it, and they have a fabulous way to remember all their friends and family that celebrated with them.

I had so many favorite moments on this one day! But my first one was seeing Jeanette walking down the path towards Matt for their first look.  The snow was the perfect backdrop to their winter wedding and she looked simply gorgeous as she walked towards her groom.

After the first look and some outdoor pictures, we let our bride and groom and wedding party warm up inside before heading to the ceremony.  The main house of Grace Winery is so beautiful and a perfect place to relax.

b-10

I love how our fabulous photographer, Paul Reitano, captured so many amazing candid moments.

It was now time for our ceremony at Meadowcroft Presbyterian Church.  As Matt watched Jeanette walk towards him to be his wife, his face just said it all.  This is a moment I will never forget…

After the ceremony, we headed back to Grace Winery for an amazing party!  Matt and Jeanette danced their first dance to Josh Groban’s “When you say you love me” and it was so beautiful! The love in their eyes for each other was so incredibly evident!

a-2a-4

After their first dance, it was time for a toast from the best man, Todd, Matt’s twin brother. He did an amazing job! My favorite part of his toast was when he said the he had only been apart from Matt for 4 minutes, when Matt was born first. He was now passing on the baton of being a twin of Matt’s to Jeanette, for she was now to be forever by his side.  It was such a poignant and beautiful moment!

Great food, great music and great dancing was high on Matt and Jeanette’s priority list for their wedding. And we accomplished each item! Feastivities did an amazing job of catering and the Billy Walton Band kept the crowd on their feet all night!

I loved this winter wedding! It was so fun to see months of planning come to fruition on one magical day.  I love that I have the incredible privilege of meeting a couple for the first time, and then over 11 months see the vision for their wedding become a reality!

Matt and Jeanette you are forever inscribed on my heart!

Allison and CJ’s Intimate Church Wedding

What a spectacular fall day we had for Allison and CJ’s beautiful wedding.  The sky could not have been bluer, the temperatures were delightful and the backdrop for this gorgeous wedding was amazing.  A stone church built in the early 1900’s in the medieval style.  The brick and the stained glass windows added such a majestic element to this godly wedding.

CJ&Allison-29CJ&Allison-28

There were so many things that made this wedding so memorable for me.  CJ and Allison are special to me because we belong to the same church and our friendship has grown over the past few years.  It’s always wonderful to work with a couple that you already know really well.  I also loved that I knew almost their entire wedding party (my son was a groomsman) and the pastor, Matt Townsend,  who married them is a close friend of ours.  The whole wedding day just felt like “home ” to me and I will cherish it always.

People often comment that they love looking at the groom when he sees his bride for the first time walking down the aisle.  And that truly is a magical moment.  But I also love the moment when the Father of the bride sees his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress.  The moment when Jeff, saw Allison the morning of her wedding was just so special.

Allison wore the most beautiful embellished ball gown wedding dress.  She truly radiated!

CJ&Allison-31

As Aviva Strings played Canon in D,  Jeff walked Allison down the aisle to her CJ. You could see the joy in his eyes as he beamed seeing her walk towards him.

The ceremony was beautiful and gave all glory to God for what He has done in bringing CJ and Allison together.

CJ&Allison-51

I loved these candid pictures of CJ and Allison immediately after they were married.  Betsy and AJ from Mountain Gap Photography did a great job of capturing these moments.

The whole bridal party then headed off to Norristown Park for some gorgeous outdoor pictures.

The reception had a fabulous Celtic flare to it.  Fair Trade Band brought the whole Celtic feel to the wedding and everyone LOVED them! Truly such incredible musicians!

Allison chose these beautiful lantern centerpieces.  They added so much to the ambience of the room.

CJ&Allison-118

For their first dance as husband and wife, CJ and Allison danced to Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath. It was so beautiful!

CJ&Allison-96

This incredible day ended on such a dramatic note. The moon was full and the sky was clear as they danced one more dance in the gazebo before leaving for their honeymoon.

Thank you, CJ and Allison, for letting me be a part of your special day.  I loved every minute of planning this wedding with you!

Jacyln and Justin’s Country Barn Wedding

Despite the threat of Hurricane Matthew to significantly alter our plans for our Columbus Day weekend wedding, spirits could not be dampened as we watched this fabulous couple prepare to get married in an idyllic country setting.

JaclynJustin-Lancaster-Farm-Wedding-24JaclynJustin-Lancaster-Farm-Wedding-23

But, first let me back up to a few months ago. On our first meeting, Jaclyn, her Mom, Dad and I  drove out to Lancaster to tour a couple different venues that they had researched.  Jaclyn immediately fell in love with the fabulous rustic barn of Omar and Ester Smoker.  It seems more and more, I see barns that are too refined, too perfect…but the Smoker’s barn is the “real deal”. It is gorgeous and old (parts of this beautiful barn predate the civil war!) and it was decided that it was the absolute perfect place for Justin and Jaclyn to say their “I do’s”.  This is the kind of place where the donkey’s are braying, horses are roaming the field, goats are staring and the rooster darts out in  front of you every time you turn the corner, and well, it’s perfection if you are wanting a country barn wedding!  Since the barn was so beautiful, Jaclyn kept the centerpieces simple with baby’s breath and pops of color here and there with bouquets sunflowers.

JaclynJustin-Lancaster-Farm-Wedding-18IMG_0122

The things that were important to Jaclyn and Justin were, first and foremost, that God was  to be the main focus of their ceremony.  And, for the reception they wanted their guests to enjoy a dinner made up of all of Jaclyn and Justin’s favorite things, like tacos and mac and cheese and BBQ pulled pork, and they wanted to dance…lots of dancing!

It was so fun planning this wedding with Jaclyn and her Mom, Andrea.  I loved every time we could get together and talk wedding!

JaclynJustin-Lancaster-Farm-Wedding-5

Since Justin is based on the West Coast,  Jaclyn wanted to make sure her Mom would always have her “close by”, so she gave her this fabulous cut-out of herself! Andrea can now take Jaclyn with her everywhere she goes!2016JaclynJustinWedding_Prep-57 (1)

Jaclyn’s bridesmaids, moms and even this wedding planner, were able to gather around Jaclyn and pray over her before the ceremony.  It was so beautiful to be a part of that.

2016JaclynJustinWedding_Prep-190

Jaclyn’s little cousin, Swenya, made the most adorable little flower girl! Although, I’m not sure “flower girl” is the right term, if she’s holding a sign instead of flowers…but whatever her title is, I think she lit up the ceremony with her entrance!

Jaclyn and Justin decided they would like to do a “cord braiding ceremony”.  This is taken from the verse in Ecclesiastes 4:12 “A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.” The three strands represent God, the Bride and the Groom and the importance of weaving the Lord into your marriage to create a strong union that is not easily torn apart.  Jaclyn’s Aunt and Uncle made this amazing wood board for their cord braiding.

2016JaclynJustinWedding_Faves-27

The ceremony was officiated by their dear friend Nathan, and he made it so personal and kept the focus on God, which was exactly what Jaclyn and Justin wanted. They committed to each other in front of this beautiful arbor, made by Jaclyn’s father, Jeff and on this gorgeous hillside.

One of the most special moments for me, was seeing the Grand Entrance of the bride and groom into the reception.  Six Navy men marched forward, after the bridal party had been announced and created a sword arch for Jaclyn and Justin to pass through…it was spectacular!

2016JaclynJustinWedding_Reception-64

Then it was all about the fun!

JaclynJustin-Lancaster-Farm-Wedding-21

The fabulous Grease Band sang and entertained the guests on the patio under the stars…it was sheer perfection. I think that Dance floor was crowded the entire night!  When the Grease band wasn’t playing, DJ John kept the party going non-stop!

2016JaclynJustinWedding_Reception-2272016JaclynJustinWedding_Reception-182

I had the privilege of making Jaclyn and Justin’s wedding cake.  They wanted to keep it simple and nontraditional with a Rice Krispie cake.  The whiskey barrel made the perfect cake table for this wedding!

Jaclyn’s bouquet toss from the top landing was fabulous!

2016JaclynJustinWedding_Reception-206

Victoria and Hunter, our wedding photographers captured so many great moments around the farm.  These are some of my favorites!

“Here’s looking at you kid”…or perhaps the kid is looking at you!

JaclynJustin-Lancaster-Farm-Wedding-14

The Pre-Civil war portion of the barn made for such a great backdrop to the wedding party portraits.

For the big “finale” we had a fabulous Sparkler Exit.

It was so wonderful to come to the end of the night and realize that all the things that Jaclyn and Justin said were important to them at our first meeting, we were able to see come true! It was such an honor to be a part of this military wedding! I loved every moment!  Thank you Jaclyn and Justin for allowing me to be a part of  your special day!
